Our Process

I was very impressed with the Wood & Wisdom service. They handmade a set of bespoke oak gates for my property, finished with black wrought iron furniture crafted in their foundry.  The design is in keeping with the period, and the automated technology adds privacy and security for my home.

I commissioned Wood & Wisdom to create a totally bespoke, statement staircase for my new family home.  The design they proposed was a continuous string staircase, handcrafted in walnut and travelling up flawlessly over 3 floors.  It’s stunning, a total master-piece and works in perfect harmony with the porcelain tiles, double oak doors and galleried landing.

My 4-story modern seafront home has an entire façade made of glass and timber.  It’s incredibly exposed to the elements and sits within a conservation area.  Wood & Wisdom’s brief was to design and install bespoke windows that were not only in keeping, but also incredibly hard wearing. They recommended Accoya frames finished in a bespoke colour, with stainless steel fixtures and fittings suited to the exposed elevation. The team was amazing throughout the project, skillfully managing the challenges presented by 4 floors and large panes of glass without any problem at all.

We wanted to install a painted wooden staircase into our home that was in keeping with the style of the property.  The natural oak staircase Wood & Wisdom manufactured and installed is perfect, and reflects the natural wood finishes we have throughout the rest of the house. The whole process was incredibly simple and straightforward, and only took a couple of days.

As part of the development of my first investment property, Wood & Wisdom designed and installed Critall-style glazed doors & panels to connect the new kitchen extension with the rest of the Victorian property.  The doors, painted in the same colour as the DeVol kitchen, allow light to flood through the garden flat and are a real design feature

We chose Wood & Wisdom to work with us on a recent refurbishment project and asked them to create two 2 separate sets of automated gates which are operated by sensor.

Each gate is 16 x 8ft, which presented a challenge.  But the team expertly adjusted the brick piers to ensure brackets could be fitted, before custom making bespoke wrought iron hinges capable of withstanding the weight of the gates at the Wood & Wisdom foundry.  A smooth project, with excellent service from the team.

Wood & Wisdom exceeded my expectations in every way. The team of designers and craftsmen were incredibly sensitive to my home’s original features.  Carefully refurbishing original sash windows, incorporating discrete modern technology, and custom making replicas where refurbishment was not possible.  They made unlimited visits to ensure I was totally happy, and the finish is faultless.

Our 1503 Grade 2 Listed farmhouse is charming, but not without a few age-related challenges! Wood & Wisdom took the renovation of our windows in their stride.

Designing custom made slim lined double glazing to match the aesthetics of the original windows, satisfying planning whilst at the same time providing greater energy efficiency. The team finished with lime mortar, which also satisfied listed building consent. An expert service, true professionals.

The original 1970’s windows in my property were in a terrible state. I wanted to maintain a contemporary, modern design, which was energy efficient. So, I commissioned Wood & Wisdom to design and manufacture hardwood, double glazed windows that replicated the feel of the original design. They’ve done an outstanding job. Service was excellent, with attention to detail throughout.

I commissioned Wood & Wisdom to create a kitchen in my family home.  However, it also serves as the kitchen for my home bakery business so I needed an exacting design.  The team did a marvellous job and answered the brief perfectly.  Incorporating many custom details including bespoke handles, cupboards and drawers for a safer working environment. Their choice of materials and overall attention to detail, such as tailored larder cabinets and a practical central island has created a stunning space that we continue to enjoy on a daily basis.

We decided to completely refurbish our traditional Sussex farmhouse and replace all the windows and doors with hard wood traditional style double-glazing.  We are extremely happy with the quality and design and would not hesitate to recommend Wood and Wisdom

My house sits high above the street in a very prominent location in Hove. I felt it deserved a statement front door and asked Wood & Wisdom to help me. The service I received was wonderful. From touring Brighton and Hove with me to gather inspiration, to noting down the favourite design features and styles I’ve gathered on my travels.

I commissioned them to make a bespoke Accoya front door, painted in an eye catching green/grey and finished with ornate, contemporary polished chrome fixtures. Exceptional service from beginning to end.
