One of the joys of owning your own home is being able to make changes to it whenever you want. It might be something small like changing the colour of the walls, or it could be a more epic DIY project like fitting a new bathroom.
Research by Plentific.com has recently revealed what our priorities are for the coming 12 months when it comes to our home improvement plans, Property Reporter revealed.
Unsurprisingly, decorating is the area that’s going to see the biggest increase in spending this year, with 19 per cent of homeowners stating that they plan to spend more on this in 2018 than last year.
Meanwhile, 17 per cent of those questioned said they’d spend more on their bedrooms, with the same percentage singling out gardens as the place where they’ll be splashing a bit more cash.
Spokesperson for the firm Stephen Jury commented: “Interior decor leads the way for increased budget this year, along with improvements to the garden. Let’s hope we have the weather this summer to enjoy the investment!”
If you’re considering making changes to your garden, you could consider a bespoke veranda to give you a striking and elegant place to enjoy your outdoor space.
This kind of feature could work especially well with the trend towards more outdoor living, with garden designer John Wyer telling Ideal Home earlier this month that people are looking at new and innovative ways to include outdoor structures in their gardens.
Summerhouses or pergolas complete with lighting and power, and even outdoor kitchens are all on the agenda, he asserted.
